Race Comments: RAVEN'S PASS was
rated well back in the early going, moved out along the backstretch, raced just behind CURLIN in the five path for seven furlongs,
moved outside the favorite to launch his bid approaching the quarter pole, made a steady run to take the lead leaving the
furlong marker then edged clear while drifting out under steady right hand encouragement. HENRYTHENAVIGATOR was unhurried
while slightly off the rail for six furlongs, angled out midway on the turn, advanced five wide at the quarter pole, split
horses while making a sharp move to reach contention in midstretch and continued on well to clearly best the others. TIAGO
was outrun for five furlongs after breaking slowly, was rated along the inside to the turn, angled out at the top of the stretch
then rallied belatedly to gain a share. CURLIN settled in hand soon after the start, raced in good position along the backstretch,
rapidly closed the gap in the five path when asked for run on the turn, surged to the front gaining a slim lead in upper stretch,
relinquished command to the winner inside the furlong marker then weakened under pressure in the final seventy yards. GO BETWEEN
tucked in along the rail while well placed in the early stages, raced in good position just off the pace on the backstretch,
steadied in traffic while trapped along the rail nearing the quarter pole, angled out for clear sailing in upper stretch and
rallied mildly. COLONEL JOHN was rated in midpack for six furlongs while five wide, made a sharp move inside CURLIN to challenge
nearing the quarter pole, battled into upper stretch and steadily tired thereafter. SMOOTH AIR raced up close in the three
path to the turn and faded in the stretch. CHAMPS ELYSEES (GB) trailed for most of the trip while saving ground, swung wide
while gaining slightly at the top of the stretch and finished evenly. DUKE OF MARMALADE (IRE) was forwardly placed in good
position for a good portion of the trip, lodged a brief move to gain a slim lead nearing the quarter pole, fought heads apart
into upper stretch and gave way inside the furlong marker. FAIRBANKS pressed the pace from outside for seven furlongs and
gave way approaching the stretch. STUDENT COUNCIL never reached contention while between horses throughout. CASINO DRIVE set
the pace under pressure along the rail for seven furlongs and faltered.
